Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information narubox™ collects through narubox.com, our software products (including NaruBase™), and our AI data platform build services, how we use it, and the choices you have. In short: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your personal information, and the software you install does not send us telemetry.

  1. 1. Information we collect

When you contact us: the name, email address, subject, and message you enter in our contact form, and anything you send us by email.

When you buy a product: your email address and billing details, which are collected and processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. We keep a record of the license key we issue and the email address it was sent to.

When you browse the website: our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested). We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect device, browser, approximate location, and referral information so we can see which pages are read. Blog post views are counted only as a total per post, without recording who viewed them.

When we provide services: to build or operate a platform, we may access data, systems, and accounts you choose to share with us. We use that access only to perform the work you engage us for, as described under "Client data in our services."

In our software: NaruBase™ products run on your device and do not send telemetry to us. Credentials, settings, scan results, and other output stay on your device. The only optional outbound request is a check for new releases, which you can turn off.

  2. 2. How we use information

We use personal information only to respond to inquiries and prepare quotes; process purchases, deliver and verify licenses, and provide support; perform, manage, and invoice services; understand and improve the website; protect against spam, fraud, and abuse, including through Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form; and comply with our legal obligations.

  3. 3. Client data in our services

When we work on your platform, you remain the owner and controller of your data, including any personal information it contains about your own customers or users. We act as your service provider: we process that data only on your instructions and only to perform the services, we do not sell it or use it for our own purposes, and we stop accessing it when the engagement ends.

You are responsible for having a lawful basis for that data, giving the required notices to your own users, and obtaining any consents needed for the data you ask us to work with.

  4. 4. How we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We share it only with service providers that help us run narubox™ — for example Stripe (payments), Google (Analytics, reCAPTCHA, and email), Vercel (website hosting), and GitHub (software distribution) — each under its own terms and privacy policy; when required by law or legal process, or to protect our rights and the safety of others; or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition, in which case this Policy continues to apply.

  5. 5. Cookies and similar technologies

The website uses a cookie to remember your language preference, Google Analytics cookies to measure traffic, and Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form to block spam. It also stores a temporary flag in your browser's session storage so a page view isn't counted twice.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The website will still work, although the contact form requires reCAPTCHA.

  6. 6. International processing

narubox™ operates from the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you are located outside the United States — including in Korea or the European Union — your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using our website, products, or services, you understand that this transfer takes place.

  7. 7. Retention

We keep contact and support messages as long as needed to respond and to keep a record of our communications; purchase and license records as long as needed for licensing, accounting, and tax purposes; and analytics data for the retention period configured in Google Analytics.

At the end of a services engagement, our access to your systems is removed and any copies of your data we hold are returned or deleted, unless you ask otherwise or the law requires us to keep them.

  8. 8. Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under U.S. state privacy laws such as those of California and Texas, Korea's Personal Information Protection Act, and the EU and UK GDPR — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent.

To make a request, email us at the address below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, we may need to verify your identity first, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

  9. 9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections and access limited to what is needed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  10. 10. Children

Our website, products, and services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14 (or the minimum age required where you live). If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

  11. 11. Other websites and platforms

Our website links to other sites, including platforms we have built and operate, such as MyGeneLog™ and USAnaru™. Each of those sites has its own privacy policy, which governs its data practices.

  12. 12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.

Questions and requests about this Policy, including requests to the person responsible for protecting personal information at narubox™, can be sent to narubox.com@gmail.com.

Terms of Use

These Terms of Use apply to narubox.com, our software products, and our services. By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using any narubox™ product, or by engaging narubox™ to build a platform or provide any other service, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use the software or services. Some services are also governed by a written proposal or project agreement; where that document conflicts with these Terms, the signed or accepted document controls for that engagement.

  1. 1. Definitions

"narubox™," "we," and "us" mean narubox™ and its owner/operator. "Products" means software we sell or distribute for installation, including NaruBase™. "Services" means work we perform for a client, including data assessments, AI data platform builds, individual components (such as data pipelines, NaruBot™, APIs and MCP servers, and AEO/GEO work), and operations plans. "Deliverables" means the software, source code, and materials we deliver to a client as part of the Services. "Client Data" means data, content, and materials a client provides to us or that its platform collects.

  2. 2. Software products

Products are licensed, not sold. Each NaruBase™ license is for one user, for a one-time fee, and permits installing and using the Product for your own purposes. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or share the Product or its license keys; reverse engineer it for competitive or commercial purposes; or circumvent license activation. Any such use immediately terminates your license without refund. Free products, such as MyGeneLog™, are subject to the same restrictions and to any terms published with them.

You are solely responsible for installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining Products on your own devices.

  3. 3. Services and scope

The scope, Deliverables, timeline, and fees for Services are set out in a written proposal or agreement that we both accept, including by email. Prices published on our website are starting points; the accepted proposal controls.

Work outside the agreed scope, including changes you request after acceptance, is quoted and billed separately. Timelines are good-faith estimates that depend on your timely cooperation; we are not responsible for delays caused by late information, access, decisions, or third parties.

  4. 4. Your responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate information, timely access, and the decisions we need to perform the Services; to make sure you have all rights, licenses, and consents needed for Client Data and for any third-party data sources, accounts, and APIs you ask us to use; to comply with the terms of the third-party services your platform relies on; and to keep the accounts your platform runs on — such as hosting, domain, and payment accounts — in your own name.

You are responsible for reviewing and accepting Deliverables, for how your platform is operated after delivery, and for its compliance with the laws that apply to it, including privacy notices and consents for your users, advertising and affiliate disclosures, consumer protection rules, and the terms on which you sell or license data.

  5. 5. Fees and payment

Fees are due as stated in the accepted proposal. The data assessment fee is credited toward a platform build as described in its proposal and is otherwise non-refundable. Fees for work already performed are non-refundable. We may pause work while an invoice is overdue.

Fees do not include taxes or third-party costs — such as hosting, domains, data, APIs, and AI model usage — which you pay directly to the providers or reimburse to us. You are responsible for applicable taxes other than taxes on our income.

  6. 6. Operations plans

Operations plans are optional, billed monthly in advance, and renew month to month until cancelled. You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. Each plan covers only the work described for that plan. There is no guaranteed response time, uptime, or service level unless one is stated in a signed agreement, and other work is quoted separately.

  7. 7. Intellectual property and source code

Client Data remains yours. Upon full payment for the applicable Services, you receive full access to the source code of the Deliverables and a perpetual, non-exclusive license to use, modify, and operate it for your own business and the platform it was built for. This license may not be transferred except to a successor that acquires the business operating that platform, with written notice to us. Until full payment, all rights in the Deliverables remain with narubox™.

Unless we agree otherwise in a signed writing, you may not sell, resell, sublicense, rent, lease, distribute, or otherwise commercially reuse the source code or any part of it — including as a template, product, or white-label solution, or in work performed for third parties.

narubox™ retains all right, title, and interest in its pre-existing and reusable components, tools, frameworks, templates, and know-how, including the NaruBot™ engine, which is licensed only for use within your own deployment. Any use beyond these licenses is a material breach of these Terms.

  8. 8. Client Data and confidentiality

We use Client Data only to perform the Services and will not sell it or use it in our own products. Each party will keep the other's non-public business, technical, and financial information confidential and use it only for the engagement, except information that is or becomes public, was already known, is independently developed, or must be disclosed by law. These obligations survive the end of the engagement. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

  9. 9. Third-party data, services, and AI

Platforms often depend on third-party data sources, APIs, AI models, and services, such as government datasets, partner feeds, and hosting providers. We do not control them and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, pricing, or changes to their terms, which may require additional paid work.

Features that use AI, including NaruBot™, generate output from the data available to them and can be incomplete or wrong. You are responsible for reviewing content before relying on it or publishing it. We use AI-assisted development tools in our own work.

  10. 10. No guarantee of results

We do not guarantee any particular business outcome, including revenue, traffic, search or AI-search rankings, citations by AI assistants, partner approvals, advertising income, or demand for your data. Examples and figures about our own platforms describe those platforms only and are not a promise of similar results.

  11. 11. Operational responsibility

Output, diagnoses, scan results, alerts, recommendations, analyses, and AI-generated answers produced by our Products or by platforms we build are informational only and are not professional, legal, financial, medical, security, or compliance advice. You are solely responsible for any action taken — or not taken — based on that output, and for independently verifying results before relying on them.

  12. 12. No warranty

THE PRODUCTS, SERVICES, AND DELIVERABLES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY DATA, ANALYSIS, OR OUTPUT, EXCEPT FOR ANY WARRANTY EXPRESSLY STATED IN A SIGNED PROJECT AGREEMENT. We do not warrant that anything we provide will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or compatible with any specific system or environment.

  13. 13. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NARUBOX™ WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE PRODUCTS, SERVICES, OR DELIVERABLES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. NARUBOX™'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID TO NARUBOX™ FOR THE SPECIFIC PRODUCT OR SERVICE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY ASSERTED, INCLUDING CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, OR STRICT LIABILITY.

  14. 14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless narubox™ and its owner/operator from any claim, liability, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use or misuse of the Products or Deliverables; Client Data or third-party data you instruct us to use; the operation of your platform and your dealings with its users, advertisers, partners, and data customers; your violation of these Terms; or your violation of any law or third-party right, including any unauthorized scanning, diagnosis, or monitoring of networks or devices you do not own or have permission to assess.

  15. 15. Lawful use

You agree to use narubox™ products and Deliverables only for lawful purposes and in compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction. You may only scan, diagnose, monitor, or test networks, endpoints, or wireless devices that you own or have explicit, documented permission to assess. narubox™ disclaims all responsibility for unauthorized or unlawful use by you or any third party.

  16. 16. Term and termination

Either party may end an engagement as provided in the accepted proposal or, if it says nothing, by written notice. If an engagement ends, you pay for work performed and expenses incurred through the end date, and the license in "Intellectual property and source code" applies only to Deliverables paid for in full. We may suspend or terminate access to Products or Services immediately if you materially breach these Terms.

Provisions that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, confidentiality, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — survive termination.

  17. 17. Refunds

Every narubox™ software product includes a free trial before purchase is required, so you can evaluate it before paying. Given this trial period, license fees are non-refundable once paid, except where required by applicable law. Fees for Services are refundable only as stated in the accepted proposal. Contact us if you believe you were charged in error.

  18. 18. References

Unless you tell us otherwise in writing, we may identify you as a client and describe the work we did in general terms, including on our website. We will never disclose your confidential information or Client Data in doing so.

  19. 19. Service availability

We strive to keep our website and license-activation endpoints available but do not guarantee uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free access, and we are not liable for any unavailability. Products run locally and continue to function offline once licensed; only release-manifest checks, license verification, and our website depend on online services.

  20. 20. Force majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of hosting, network, or third-party services; changes to third-party APIs or data sources; natural disasters; epidemics; labor disputes; government action; or illness.

  21. 21. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms, the Products, or the Services will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Texas, USA, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there. You agree to bring any claim only in your individual capacity, not as part of a class, consolidated, or representative action.

Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the mandatory consumer protection laws of your place of residence that cannot be waived by contract.

  22. 22. General

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any accepted proposal or signed project agreement are the entire agreement on their subject; if a signed or accepted project document conflicts with these Terms, that document controls for its engagement. We act as an independent contractor. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a business transfer. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. Notices to us must be sent by email to the address below. If these Terms are provided in another language, the English version controls in case of any conflict.

  23. 23. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of narubox™ products or services after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Changes do not apply retroactively to an accepted proposal unless both parties agree.

  24. 24. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at narubox.com@gmail.com.
